For Hope in the Climate Crisis, Look to the Ocean

Working closely with our colleagues at the Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution, we produced this short video about the ocean’s role in combating climate change. It premiered at the United Nations’ Bonn Climate Change Conference in June 2022 during the Ocean and Climate Change Dialogue, and released on WHOI’s website and YouTube channel for ClimateWeek NYC, just ahead of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change conference (COP27) in Egypt.

We thank the scientists, students, and communications professionals who lent their voices to this project, and the countless unnamed videographers whose stock footage brought the concepts in this video to life. (We also relished the chance to lend some of our footage from research cruises and beauty shots at sea to the cause!) While one video isn’t going to stop the climate crisis, we think it might have the power to inspire the hope we need to bring about change.
